Geostrand Architectural Competition Entry
'Housing The Next 10 Million' competition entry.
Domus Academy Master in Design Project, 1999
An urban design competition focused on sustainable development plans for California's Central Valley — one of the most productive agricultural regions in the world, facing rapid urbanisation pressure.
I participated in the competition alongside 14 fellow students as part of the Master in Design programme at Domus Academy, Milan, developing proposals that balanced ecological sustainability with the economic and social realities of Central Valley communities.
Sustainable development proposals for California's Central Valley
The competition required teams to develop comprehensive plans addressing land use, transportation, water management, and community development across a region the size of a small country. The proposals used mapping, spatial analysis, and scenario modelling to show how sustainable development could work at the valley's scale.
The visual deliverables ranged from regional-scale planning maps to detailed site proposals, using a consistent graphic language to communicate complex environmental and urban data.
